YOUNG VOLUNTEERS PARK (Christia Rossidou Soteriou),

In collaboration with the Municipality of Strovolos and with the assistance of private donations (both in-kind and financial), the Young Volunteers wish to create a green park and safe playground in a mixed-income area, where no such facilities exist.

The purpose of the park is twofold:

• (1) to improve the quality of public space available to the neighbourhood, the Young Volunteers and any other group of residents of the greater Nicosia area who want to organise outdoor activities; and
  
  
• (2) to forge a public-private partnership (between the Municipality, the Young Volunteers, the residents of the neighbourhood and hopefully other organisations) that will maintain the park and serve as a model for similar initiatives all over the island.
  
  This would be the first in what the Young Volunteers hope will be a series of safe park activities undertaken either by the Young Volunteers or by the Young Volunteers and other like-minded organizations on the island to increase both the quantity and quality of public space that serves as a meeting ground for children and people of different ages, incomes, backgrounds, origins and ethnicities.
